Equity mutual funds achieved an extraordinary inflow of Rs 34,697 crore in May, according to AMFI data

Equity mutual funds inflows surged by 83.42 percent to a record high of Rs 34,697 crore in May, according to data released by the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) on June 10. This marks the 39th consecutive month of positive inflows into open-ended equity funds.

The surge in net investments was driven by sectoral and thematic funds, which attracted Rs 19,213.43 crore in May. Notably, the HDFC Manufacturing Fund, launched during the month, secured Rs 9,563 crore from investors during its new fund offer (NFO) period.

Additionally, smaller-cap funds maintained strong inflows, with small-cap and mid-cap funds receiving Rs 2,724.67 crore and Rs 2,605.70 crore, respectively. However, large-cap funds saw more modest net investments of Rs 663.09 crore during the month.

In contrast, equity mutual fund inflows had decreased by 16.42 percent to Rs 18,917.08 crore in April 2024.
