Astar Network, a prominent player in the blockchain ecosystem, has announced the official shutdown of its zkEVM (Zero-Knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine) on April 1, 2025. The decision aligns with the network’s broader strategy to enhance security, streamline operations, and transition to more efficient technologies.

Urgent Call for Users to Withdraw Assets

With the shutdown date approaching, the Network has strongly urged all users to withdraw their assets promptly to avoid potential disruptions. Liquidity providers are required to remove liquidity from DEX/DeFi on Astar zkEVM and transfer their holdings—including ETH, DAI, MATIC, USDC, USDT, WBTC, and wsETH—to Ethereum using the Astar Portal bridge. Additionally, ASTR and DOT can be bridged to Astar EVM via Astar Portal or Stargate.

The network confirmed that all eligible NFT collections have already been migrated to the Soneium mainnet, following the migration announcement made earlier in January.

Security and Industry Adaptation

Astar’s decision underscores the importance of asset security and the need for users to stay proactive in managing their digital investments. The blockchain industry is evolving rapidly, with platforms frequently updating their services to align with emerging technologies and market demands.

The shutdown of zkEVM serves as a reminder for users to stay vigilant and act swiftly to protect their assets. Astar Network’s proactive approach aims to minimize risks and ensure a seamless transition for its community.

Final Reminder: Withdraw Before April 1, 2025

With the official shutdown date fast approaching, users must withdraw all assets before April 1, 2025. The Network’s latest announcement on X reinforces the urgency of this transition, emphasizing the need for immediate action.

As the blockchain landscape continues to evolve, such developments highlight the necessity for users to stay informed and adaptable to industry shifts.
