Swiss Re announces Anders Malmström as new finance leader
Swiss Re’s Chairman, Jacques de Vaucleroy, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Anders Malmström, a seasoned leader with extensive expertise in finance and the insurance industry. We are confident that he is the ideal candidate to advance the Finance function following a smooth transition.”
Anders Malmström will join Swiss Re in early 2025, coming from Athora Holdings, a prominent European savings and retirement services group, where he has been the Group Chief Financial Officer since May 2021. Previously, he held senior roles such as Senior Executive Vice President and CFO at Equitable Holdings in New York, Senior Executive Director and CFO at AXA US, a member of the executive board and Head of the Life business at AXA Winterthur, and other senior leadership positions at Swiss Life Group. Malmström holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Aachen and a Master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, and Astronomy from the University of Basel. He is also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program.
Jacques de Vaucleroy also expressed gratitude: “Although it is premature to say goodbye to John Dacey, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire Board of Directors for his exceptional contributions to Swiss Re over the past 12 years. His notable achievements include enhancing the Finance function to be more efficient and aligned across the Group’s businesses and successfully implementing Swiss Re’s transition to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).”
John Dacey will retire from his executive role on March 31, 2025, but will continue to serve Swiss Re as a non-executive director on the boards of FWD and CPIC.
