The EU investigates Big Tech for potential violations of the Digital Markets Act, with a focus on anti-steering and self-preferencing practices. Companies risk fines of up to 10% of their global turnover. Google, Amazon, Apple, and Meta are under scrutiny for alleged unfair competition and data privacy issues.

On Monday, the European Union initiated inquiries into Alphabet, Apple, and Meta for potentially violating a significant new law aimed at preventing Big Tech from gaining an unfair advantage over competitors. Two out of the five investigations pertain to Alphabet and Apple’s payment systems, particularly focusing on instances of “anti-steering” conduct.
